Tops
- Body length: from the highest point of the shoulder straight down to the bottom hem.
- Shoulder width: straight across from one shoulder seam to the other.
- Pit to pit: straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam (one side; double it for the full chest).
- Sleeve length: from where the shoulder seam meets the body to the end of the sleeve.
Pants & shorts
- Waist: straight across the top of the waistband, laid flat (double it for the full waist).
- Inseam: from the crotch seam down the inside of the leg to the hem.
- Outseam: from the top of the waistband down the outside of the leg to the hem.

- Body Length: From the highest point of the shoulder, measure straight down to the bottom hem.
- Shoulder Width: Measure straight across from one shoulder seam to the other.
- Pit to Pit: Lay the garment flat and measure straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam. This is a flat, one-side measurement, so double it for the full chest.
- Sleeve Length: From where the shoulder seam meets the body, measure to the end of the sleeve opening.
- Waist: Lay the garment flat and measure straight across the top of the waistband. Double it for the full waist. A range (e.g. 30–34) is the full waist, relaxed to stretched.
- Inseam: From the crotch seam, measure down the inside of the leg to the hem.
- Outseam: From the top of the waistband, measure down the outside of the leg to the hem.
